So far, my favorite reading books are the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. There are many books in this series, following different members of a royal elf blood line. The First King of Shannara is the prequel to the entire series, showing how the royal line came to be. The Sword of Shannara, The Elfstones of Shannara, and The Wishsong of Shannara is the first trilogy some many years later. The Shannara prequel was actually written after the original trilogy. The Scions, The Druid, The Elf Queen, and The Talismans of Shannara is the series of other decendents from the same line several hundred years later. There are a total of five series in the book universe of Shannara, totaling 14 books including the prequel. There is the Shannara prequel, the Original Trilogy, the Heritage of Shannara, the Voyage of Jerle Shannara, and the High Druid of Shannara. Terry Brooks is also working on the Genesis of Shannara trilogy, which bridges into his Word/Void trilogy, detailing into the Great Wars that were alluded to during the Shannara series.
Terry Brooks was inspired by the Lord of the Rings trilogy and thought, "What if Tolkien's magic and fairy creatures were made part of the worlds of Walter Scott and Dumas? What if the story took place somewhere timeless and placeless, a somewhere that nevertheless hinted strongly of our own world in the future? What if our present knowledge had been lost, and science had been replaced by magic? But it couldn't be magic that was dependable or simply good or bad. And the right and wrong of things couldn't be clear-cut because life simply didn't work that way. And the central figure needed to be someone readers could identify with, a person very much like themselves, caught up in events not of his own making, a person simply trying to muddle through. That was how Sword began." (Terry Brooks, 1991 [Source: Wikipedia, 2007])

My favorite reading books are the Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling. I wrote about the series in my commonplace entry. It was about the final and last Harry Potter book was going to come out on July 21, 2007. I was so excited because I want to know what happens. I also wrote that the actor that plays Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe, will reprise the role of Harry for the last to movies of the series. And also the movie, Harry Potter and the Order of Pheonix (#5), will be released in theaters on July 13, 2007. I think is a great series because there is a lot imagination and adventure to the plot. I also like how JK Rowling puts the plot together. I love how she has such a great imagination to make such interesting things happen in the books.

I haven't finished reading all of the books, but am working on it. I've read the previous books shown. Although much of it is very similar to the Lord of the Rings, it is a very intruging series. It is eloquently written, with much description of the main characters' feelings and their surrounding events.

These are my favorite kind of books. I like books that use this kind of writing style. These novels are writtten colloquially and are steams of consciousness of the protaganist. They tell you a captivating story that makes you empathize with the main character. These books are not life-changing or anything, but they are stories you will never forget.
